The 5 Hottest Luxury Real Estate Markets in America Right Now

Share News:

These are the hottest luxury real estate markets in America right now, according to the Realtor.com data team. As the pandemic and its fallout continue to ravage multiple aspects of the economy, the luxury real estate market thrives.

Many buyers with means are looking for more work from home space and a nice view to go along with remote positions. Cue second home purchases. It’s no surprise that coastal views feature heavily on this list:

1. Kahului, Hawaii

Living on island time surrounded by pristine beaches and lush tropics doesn’t sound too bad, does it? The same thought is obviously on everyone’s mind as Maui tops America’s luxury real estate market. Competition in the Hawaii market is fierce and even the most ramshackle beach bungalows can go for close to a million.

A luxury, oceanfront home like this four-bed, three-bath goes for millions – $11.999 million to be exact.

2. San Luis Obispo, California

The hot California markets continue to spread across the Pacific Coast, and San Luis Obispo is the newest hot spot placed right in-between San Francisco and Los Angeles. This home overlooks Pismo Beach from its perch in Pismo Heights, giving it a sense of seclusion while still being minutes away from all the best dining and shopping.

3. Sebastian, Florida

Rosemary Beach and Destin aren’t the only desirables on the hot Florida block. On the Atlantic side of the Sunshine State, the median list price for the top 1 percent of houses in Sebastian is $6.2 million.

4. Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

This idyllic little island just off the coast from Savannah, Georgia, (but located in South Carolina) exudes Southern charm and, because of home sales scarcity, competitive prices. Aside from seriously channeling the energy of the house from ‘The Notebook,’ this four-bed, four-bath boasts a past feature in Southern Living Magazine and a three-minute walk to the beach.

5. Wilmington, North Carolina

Another shoutout to a luxury Southern locale, Wilmington is one of the best places to live in North Carolina. It’s a port city located on the east coast with a beautiful riverwalk, three island beaches, and those hauntingly beautiful moss-draped live oaks all around. This $3.495 million home includes sprawling 5,000 square feet of simple elegance.
