Our Favorite Boutique Hotels in Texas, Part 2
Share News:

It’s true that everything is bigger in Texas but, on occasion, there is magic in seeking out the small. Boutique hotels, with their attention to detail, personal warmth and fascinating histories, make your stay all the more enriching, whether you hang your hat in West Texas or the Hill Country.
Here are some more worthy additions to our favorite boutique hotels list:
The Line Hotel Austin

Stay at the Line Austin for the lobby of my dreams. This chic hotel is located downtown in a building that once housed a jazz club that broadcast live for radio in the ’60s. The bones of the building are instilled with the characterful soul that you’d expect from such a unique cultural legacy. The interiors, from the lobby to the rooms, are contemporary and inventive. Think exposed concrete, pastels, strong geometric lines and leafy hanging plants.
The Line Austin has three other sister locations in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. Don’t miss a brunch or happy hour at the hotel’s rooftop restaurant overlooking Lady Bird Lake and Congress Avenue Bridge — a great spot to watch the legendary Austin bats take flight at dusk!
Albert Hotel

Set to open late this summer of 2022, Albert Hotel is an exciting addition to Fredericksburg that’s caused quite a buzz. The Texas wine country scene has an abundance of homey bed and breakfasts, but few bespoke, curated boutique hotels to speak of. Albert Hotel sprawls across a spacious two-acre lot on Main Street and Austin Street with plenty of room for the 2,000 square foot spa, spacious gardens, and the 110 guest rooms.
A dichotomy of Hill Country’s past and present, the property will consist of four renovated historic buildings, as well as new construction with a fresh contemporary design. The new hotel is the brainchild of Austin’s New Waterloo hospitality group, well-known for its memorable projects across Austin and Santa Fe.
Thunderbird Marfa

It’s hard to know where to start in Marfa. You’ve probably heard plenty about Marfa’s charming, historic Hotel Paisano, or the newer, contemporary Hotel St. George (both are great choices by the way). But today, we highlight an option flying under the radar. Thunderbird is reminiscent of a retro motor lodge, but made modern and chic.
The interiors are minimal with striking art from local artists, low platform beds and southwestern patterned blankets. The rooms wrap around the pool at the center of the property– a perfect place to cool off from the Texas sun.
