Pick Between Two Park City Mountain Mansions: Splurge or Steal?
Share News:

Park City, Utah, has the magic of small-town charm paired with two expansive ski resorts on each side.
Take your pick between these two ski-in, ski-out mountain mansions in Park City: coming in at around the same size, one comes with a $20 million price tag and the other, a comparative bargain, at $7.95 million. The discount comes at the disadvantage of an older house, smaller acreage, and a slightly less sophisticated finish out.
Let’s dive into this week’s Splurge v Steal.
Splurge: Sleek, Acred Mountain Mansion for $20 Million

10.7 acres
5 bd 6 ba 7,724 sqft
Built in 2012
This home is a bona fide mountain mansion settled on 10-plus acres of property with a prime location in the middle of Park City Resort. The interior touches on rustic but leans more refined with sleek finishes that elevate this Splurge above a typical log cabin home. Instead of the standard dimly-lit, thick-walled aura, expansive windows, white marble countertops, and white walls contribute a light atmosphere.

Although some of the staging furniture strays from the sophisticated, mostly modern theme, the beautiful finish on the home is a blank canvas begging for a skillful re-decoration.

From the listing:
“Exclusive private estate set on a prime double lot in the gated neighborhood of the Colony Private ski-in/ski-out residence. This home is close to the gatehouse with excellent sun exposure. Step out of the spacious mudroom, equipped with large custom cubbies, to fresh snow and easy ski in/out access to a quiet, blue run. The home boasts priceless, unobstructed views with picture worthy sunsets at any time of the year. The expansive property includes a large manicured lawn, and a second lot for a guest home.”

Steal: Traditional Deer Valley Mountain Mansion for $7.95 Million

0.27 acres
6 bd 8 ba 6,000 sqft
Built 2007
Our Steal is just as grand, with a very similar size and exterior design. But there are differences. One, this home is a part of Deer Valley rather than Park City Resort. Two, this home comes with significantly less acreage. Three, the interior is more of your standard mountain home fare.

Don’t get me wrong – the fixtures, the wood paneling, the stone fireplaces are nice. But after perusing our Splurge I can’t help feeling they are just a bit … uninspired. See for yourself.

That being said, the bedrooms that sport their own stone fireplaces win this home some major points back. How unbearably cozy would that be?

From the listing:
“Nestled within the private community of Nakoma, this timeless, elegant and beloved residence has had only one owner. Exquisite and immaculate, it’s spacious, yet intimate and inviting. With 6BRs, 6BTHS, 2 powders, 4 fireplaces and a ski lounge…it’s the perfect place for family, friends and entertaining, to create memories to last a lifetime!”
