Miami Splurge vs. Steal: Is a Pool And Stylish Interior Worth $2 Million More?
Share News:
Known for its sandy beaches, energetic culture and warm weather, Miami is a fantastic spot for a second home. This week’s Splurge vs. Steal features two houses for sale on the same street (just 0.3 miles apart) with a $2 million difference in price.
Is the higher price tag worth it for a pool and a more stylish interior? You tell us.
Splurge for $4.449 Million
Low, light, and bright, surrounded by palm trees, this home is giving a midcentury Palm Springs vibe. Inside the four-bed, four-bath home there are several playful, artistic features — such as the geometric, freestanding bookcase that really steals the spotlight in the living room.
There’s also a roomy open floor plan and heated, saltwater swimming pool out back. Personally, I’m super into that wooden accent wall in this bedroom. And of course, there’s the stellar location in one of Miami’s best neighborhoods.
From the listing:
“Residents can experience two double sitting rooms, a spacious dining room, and a gourmet chef’s kitchen, featuring luxury accouterments and a standout eat-in, high-end quartz island.”
Steal for $2.1 Million
75 Shore Dr W, Miami, FL 33133
At 2,770 square feet, this Steal ironically boasts a higher square footage than our Splurge. It’s roomy and has great bones with great potential, but is more of a fixer-upper in the design department. The fixtures are a bit outdated and there are some questionable paint color choices (think: ambrosia Jello salad green). Two other downsides to consider: there’s no pool and the property borders a somewhat busy road.
However, a few minor renovations and updates would be a small price to pay considering the house’s $2 million discount. At the end of the day, you still have more square footage and the same prime Miami location as our Splurge.
From the listing:
“Beautiful Home, ideal for a buyer or investor looking to build their dream home in one of the best neighborhoods in Miami. Located in Bay Heights Community, with 24/7 Police patrolling the Area. Minutes from the Grove, Brickell, Key Biscayne Beaches, major Highways, Viscaya Museum, parks and Elite Schools.”
