Turns out, daughter and Compass Realtor Emily Trebek just listed the Studio City home where her beloved celeb dad lived for 30 years before passing away of pancreatic cancer in November 2020. The close to $7 million asking price is more than three times the $2.15 million Alex paid for the Mediterranean-style home in 1991—seven years after accepting the game-changing hosting role he held up until his death.

The area is no stranger to the rich and famous.

Many A-listers have bought and sold in this affluent neighborhood, located at the northern end of Laurel Canyon. Current Fryman Canyon homeowners include Teri Hatcher, Leah Rimini, George Clooney, and “Survivor” host Jeff Probst (who owns a big estate once owned by Gene Autry).

Originally built in 1923, the extensively renovated and expanded 9,993-square-foot property offers nearly 10,000-square-feet of living space. It’s “an extraordinary opportunity to create your dream home in one of the most idyllic settings in Studio City,” touts the listing.

By the numbers, the sprawling 1.5-acre estate sports a four-bedroom, nine-bath main house, and a self-contained one-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath guesthouse. Expansive grounds feature lush greenery and mature oak trees.

The house is “unconventionally and unexpectedly configured,” according to Dirt.com.

The main living area, entertaining spaces, and primary suite are located on the second floor above twin wrought-iron-railed staircases.

Interiors, for the most part, are old school. (Think buttery-yellow living area, regal red and gold dining room.) A traditional kitchen features all the essentials. There’s also a walk-in pantry, breakfast area, family room with fireplace, and a sunroom that opens to the outdoors.

A separate wing houses a colossal media room best described as, well, theatrical.

For starters, the nearly 45-foot-long space sports cherry-red wall-to-wall carpeting. Lush velvet curtains are reminiscent of the ones that gave old-time auditoriums their majestic aura.

An adjacent lounge area has built-in bookends and a massive stone fireplace. Just off the media room, there’s another sitting area complete with a flashy, brass-accented bar.

On the second level, the spacious primary suite includes a roomy bedroom, double-height sitting area, cozy study, two bathrooms, and four walk-in closets. Down a private stairway, there’s a library and office.

Terraces, patios, and balconies abound. A veranda off the dining room overlooks the expansive grounds and rectangular swimming pool.

Five months before he died, Alex told People he was enjoying spending more time at home with his family, dealing with the pandemic just like much of America.

“I’ve just been doing little projects around the house, getting rid of stuff,” he said at the time. “I have accumulated so much over the past four decades, it’s difficult to decide what’s got to go. My wife Jeannie has a great theory. She says if you haven’t used it in a year, it’s got to go. Well, I have things I haven’t used in 40 years! So, I’m just tidying things up, if you will.”

Compass’ Emily Trebek and Renee Ogiens hold the listing for 3405 Fryman Road, Studio City.
