Splurge vs. Steal: Ventura Hillside Homes
Share News:
Ventura is one of the few remaining pockets of the Southern California coast that is still somewhat affordable. Not for long, though.
Home to plenty of families and young professionals, the beach town is steadily growing. The town boasts a generally laid-back vibe with lots of coffee shops, parks, and several good surf spots. Ventura is located about halfway between Santa Barbara and Malibu.
This week’s Splurge vs. Steal spotlights two homes in the hills inland from Ventura that offer stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and Channel Islands.
Splurge: Secluded Ocean Views for $1.79 Million
This home is truly gorgeous and a top highlight is all that outdoor space to enjoy the California sun. The patios and pool surrounded by fruit trees (with sweeping ocean views to boot) create the perfect environment for hosting small or large groups. The current owners have even hosted several weddings on this property! The house has close access to the hiking and mountain biking trails of Harmon Canyon — another plus for outdoor-enthusiasts.
If you can tear your eyes away from the Pacific and step inside the house, there are even more reasons to fall in love with this property. This four-bed, three-bath home is bright, airy and full of natural light. Finishes like the walnut cabinets, bamboo floors in the bathrooms and brushed rainforest granite counters bring a luxury feel.
From the listing:
“Very private location in the Clearpoint hillside community, this single story home is perfect for entertaining with several outdoor spaces including a large covered patio and firepit. Enjoy unobstructed views to the city below, coastline and the Channel Islands.”
Steal: Same Size, Same Place, a Bit Less Style for $1.325 Million
This home comes with the same square footage and the same neighborhood as our Splurge, while knocking several thousand off the asking price. The difference? Less dramatic ocean views and an overall more simple style. But to be fair, you can still spot the ocean and Channel Islands from the upper-level garden area.
The remodeled house’s style isn’t too shabby. Sure, there are some light fixtures and tile patterns that you may want to replace, but those shouldn’t overshadow the hardwood floors and quartz countertops. Is it worth the Steal? You decide.
From the listing:
“This delightfully remodeled 4 bedroom home is nestled on an oversized lot at the top of the Ondulando valley and offers ocean & island views from the upper-level garden area. If you’re seeking serenity, then look no further. The double door entry opens to rich hardwood floors which compliment the open beam high ceilings.”
