George Strait’s Hilltop Hacienda Hits the Market at a Discounted $6.9 Million

Procrastination pays. Literally. George Strait — aka “The King of Country” — just relisted his San Antonio estate at a whopping discount. The nearly 8,000-square-foot Hill Country hacienda can be yours for $6.9 million—a 31 percent reduction from its original listing price of $10 million.
A bit of background reveals that the property has been on and off the market with sporadic price cuts. Last February it was listed for $7.5 million. And how’s this for a fun fact? When Mansion Global first wrote about the property four years ago, the country crooner declined to disclose the price publicly.

“He doesn’t want to flaunt what he has,” said listing agent Tamara Strait, who also happens to be Mr. Strait’s daughter-in-law.
“He doesn’t like to be in the limelight, that’s why we weren’t advertising it as his house.”
Obviously, word got out — and not all accurate. According to Ms. Strait, she received calls from interested buyers citing erroneously reported prices, including the home’s $3.9 million property tax value. “It’s more like three-times that,” she said in the original 2017 article.

Now that we’ve established there’s a bargain to be had, let’s take a look at the deets.
The privately gated, 12.2-acre, secluded hilltop Dominion Country Club estate comes with an impressive pedigree. The home was designed and custom-built for the country music icon in the mid-1990s by the late sculptor and architect Arizonian Bill Tull.
The late architect, whose style is recognizable by its blend of Moorish and Pueblo influences, moved his team from Scottsdale to San Antonio for two years to complete the project, according to Mansion Global.

Among the highlights: 14 hand-sculpted masonry fireplaces — 11 inside and three outdoor, each with custom-designed screens. The property also features Tull’s signature stained glass windows, saguaro cactus rib shutters, and exposed adobe walls.
Raw wooden beams cut through the ceilings and subtle details evoke the Southwest.
The estate also sports a hot tub and infinity pool offering picturesque views of downtown San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country. Other amenities include a sports court, gym, and safe room. In addition to the three-bedroom, six-bath main house, there’s a private free-standing casita.

“This home truly is one of a kind and can never be recreated,” says Ms. Strait.
And in case you’re wondering: George Strait has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time. He holds the record for the most No. 1 albums and singles, gold albums, platinum albums, and multi-platinum albums in the history of country music. Yet another accolade: the country superstar is also the only performer in any music genre to have songs in the top 10 for 30 years in a row.
This one-of-a-kind estate at 10 Davenport Lane, San Antonio, is listed by Strait Luxury.
