Was there ever a catchier tune than “Love Shack” — or a hipper band than the B-52s? If you’ve ever wondered what “that little place where we can get together” would look like in real life, here’s a sneak peek: Singer Kate Pierson recently listed her funky-meets-rustic motel just outside of Woodstock for $2.2 million.

“It’s just like stepping into the ‘Love Shack’ music video,” according to the Kate’s Lazy Lodging website. It’s one of three properties the B-52s vocalist currently owns and operates.

“As a member of the rock band The B-52s, believe me, I’ve stayed at them all — from the Four Seasons in LA to the Pink Flamingo Motel in Gatorville, Florida. I do know a motel from a hotel, or a no-tell!” says the singer’s Airbnb host biography.

The property itself sports 4,800-square-feet of living space, 13 bedrooms, and 11 baths. It rents out as three two-room suites and six one-bedroom accommodations.

The midcentury vibe is beyond cool.

Pierson and her wife, ceramics artist Monica Coleman, restored the 70-year-old property, adding period furnishings and original tile. There’s also art by Maberry and Walker, a Japanese-style hot spa, and a firepit.

“Literally the most adorable place of all time,” says one reviewer. Other guests called it “eclectic” and “super-stylish.”

Rooms explode with color. Design features include checkerboard vinyl flooring, painted wood paneling, and fabulous fifties style kitchens. One cabin has a multi-hued polka dot spiral staircase complete with built-in television.

Memorabilia throughout the cabins honor Etta James, Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra, Dolly Parton, and, of course, the B-52s.

Outdoor enthusiasts won’t be disappointed. The 6.5-acre lot has walking trails, fly fishing, and tubing on Esopus Creek. The motel also features unbeatable access to all the nature the Catskills has to offer.

The 70-year-old singer co-founded the B-52s in Athens, Georgia, in 1976 with fellow band-mates Fred Schneider, Cindy Wilson, Ricky Wilson, and Keith Strickland.

The band’s quirky take on the new wave sound of their era was a combination of dance and surf music. Fun fact: In 1980, John Lennon called the B-52’s his favorite band, citing hit-single “Rock Lobster” as an inspiration for his “Double Fantasy” LP.

Recent projects include an Archie comic book and making more music. (Above, Amazon; below, Al J. Thompson for The New York Times)

Fast forward 40+ years. In 2015, Pierson worked with pop singer Sia on her 2015 solo album, “Guitars and Microphones.” And in 2020, the band was featured in Archie Comics’ Archie Meets the B-52s. The singer and her partner currently reside in a three-bedroom home nearby, managing the properties, making music, gardening, and hiking with their two German shepherds.
