Add Port Aransas to your calendar next summer, specifically a visit to the residential living and vacation rental development, Cinnamon Shore.
The first ever Texas Monthly Magazine Charity Showhouse is now under construction in this luxe beachfront community we posted about earlier this month. The coastal living dream house will be open for tours between May and August in the spectacular setting.
It’s the third time Cinnamon Shore has been honored as the setting of a magazine-sponsored showhouse. Southern Living Magazine’s Idea House graced the development in 2009, and Coastal Living Magazine’s Showhouse followed in 2015. A charity beneficiary has yet to be announced, but the fact that it’s the very first Texas Monthly sponsored house (not to mention the beautiful setting) sounds like plenty of reason to reserve a stay in a rental unit on site next summer to me!
Developed by the Sea Oats Group, Cinnamon Shore is the first of its kind in Texas. Modeled after communities in the Florida panhandle, the project is in its final phase of construction. Residences range from condos in townhouse-like buildings to multi-story, single-family houses — all done in Gulf Coast vernacular architecture and built around a pedestrian-friendly town center. Amenities available include community gathering spaces, restaurants, retail shops, pools, parks, two stocked lakes, and golf cart-accessible boardwalks to the beachfront shielded by 300 feet of dunes. Not to mention a broad array of services: turnkey rental management, housekeeping, personal chefs, and more.
The Texas Monthly showhouse is being designed by Austin-based architecture firm Davies Collaborative and built by Legacy DCS, both known for forward-thinking emphasis on sustainable building, green living and energy efficiency. Interior design with be by J.L. Brewer Designs out of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Announcement of the Texas Monthly house follows another recent coup for Port Aransas, a fishing mecca that’s drawn the likes of Franklin Roosevelt and oil barons Clint Murchison, Sr. and Sid Richardson to the area in past decades. A recent study by Realty Trac®, a leading property search and research service, named Port Aransas one of the top beach town values in America, and number one in Texas, based upon an index of the median home prices, average summer temperatures, air quality and density of registered criminal offenders.
To whet your appetite, here’s are some pics of a house in Cinnamon Shore which just came on the market, listed by Cinnamon Shore Realty, 169 Bent Grass Drive, 2332 square feet, listed at $1,050,000, fully-furnished. In addition to three bedrooms and two living areas, there’s a kids’ room and fun hallway bunk beds. The house sits on Lake Colby, one of Cinnamon Shore’s stocked lakes, and, not only is there a view, you can actually fish off the back porch:
Voilá, 169 Bent Grass Drive …

I can certainly see myself living here …

with a kitchen with plenty of space …

skillfully sauteing fresh caught fish on this gorgeous range.

For the family to enjoy gathered around this beachy table… (Did I mention the furnishings come with?)

or maybe on the porch overlooking that stocked lake.
After dinner, if we’re not heading to the entertainment stage for a concert or movie, we’ll relax in the living areas.

Love all these soothing blue colors!

Three bedrooms, plus the cute hallway bunk space, should be plenty to lodge our normal clan. Should we need more space, we can rent an additional property. (And, our house can generate rental income when we’re not using it if we wish. This house brought in $58,000 in 2015, all handled by management. Good to know!)

I’ll leave you with one last look at the beach. And, a link here to connect with the listing agency and reserve a house rental for an upcoming visit to Cinnamon Shore …
