Glenn Beck is Moving to Vaquero: Check Out His 7,000 Square Foot Crib!

Entertainer Glenn Beck may be on his way to Texas, to actually live here. And what better place for the controversial, former Fox radio and television host, author, entrepreneur, and political commentator who hosts the Glenn Beck Program, and  Glenn Beck on Fox News Channel,  author of six New York Times-bestselling books, and founder and CEO of Mercury Radio Arts, to settle than the tony, upscale, and uber private gated community of Vaquero smack dab next to D/FW Airport? Sources have told CandysDirt that Beck has leased the $3,900,000 listed home of Jorge & Vanessa Piedra (she is a Swarovski heiress as in the crystal, he is a major league ballplayer who’s had some “issues” and was last with the Florida Marlins). The home they are renting is at 2208 Vaquero Estates Boulevard. The Piedra home has been on the market since August, 2009, and originally listed for $5,400,000. The price was lowered to $3,900,000 and then put in the rental pool for $20,000 a month, which is actually more than the original lease offer of $15,000. It’s that kind of market, I guess, where you lower selling prices but can increase the monthly lease. In fact, as of 6/26 the behemoth home was for lease for just 59 days where it had been on the sales market for 351 days. Jeepers!

Anyhow, here is what Glenn and his wife, Tania, are getting: 7904 square feet, four car garage, almost two acres of land (1.7ish), a Hill Country styled house, La Cornue stove, master retreat with a relaxation room, study, steam shower, limestone, hardwoods, travertine, 7 bedrooms, 7.5 baths, both sun and exercise rooms, a guest house with living, bedroom, bath, and of course a pool. And if he decides he likes it so much he wants to buy, seller financing is even available and Glenn, do get Vanessa to throw in some crystal. I’ll come negotiate for you!

Last April, Beck announced he would “transition off of his daily program” on Fox News. According to Bud Kennedy at the Fort Worth Star -Telegram, Beck told our governor Rick Perry that he might move to Texas and might even run for governor. I heard yesterday that Perry’s senior staff is SERIOUSLY exploring the presidential opportunity, seeking money, and perhaps Beck’s presence in Texas might help? Beck did joke with Perry about incentives for moving his 150-employee strong company, Mercury Radio Arts, to Texas:

“I’ll move my company to Texas, but I need you to give me zero income tax — do you see what I’m saying?”

So what can I say besides welcome to Texas, Glenn and Tania Beck?

What do you say?

2208 Vaquero Estates Boulevard

Editor’s note: Your daffy RE reporter here was in such a hurry to post, I clicked on the wrong listing — corrected now, thanks to my eagle-eyed commenters. Keep me on my toes!

  • Sorry, should have said a great BIG welcome to TEXAS!

    • As the old saying goes, "I may not have been born in Texas, but I got here as quick as I could." Welcome to the Republic of Texas Glenn.

  • I live not far from there, and have a very low opinion of him. As far as I am concerned, he can live anywhere he wants if he keeps his mouth closed and his opinions to himself otherwise.

    • So, who are you to say if he can speak or not? Are you the speech police? This is a free country. I know, I helped to defend it, so you can open your moronic pie-hole.

  • Hello Candy,
You have, if it turns out to be correct, scooped the nation, regarding GB. I threw the two search terms, (mercury radio, texas) at Google and wound up here.

I have suspected for some time that Beck is planning to move to Texas. This is the first and only tidbit of confirmation…again, if what you heard is correct. To my way of thinking, it's a no-brainer….NY or Texas.

But, I don't believe I'll pick up your story. I expect if Beck wanted everyone to know, he would have made it known himself. Besides I have no way of verifying, myself. Still, I'm glad you ran it. It had to come out sometime.

But I have NO doubt that the media will run with your scoop.

Will Beck hurt or help property values and should he keep his mouth shut to make Matt K happy? I can answer that. *If* (If as in we don't know…) Beck is willing to bring in a multi-million dollar business to the community, and will no doubt have to hire a lot of locals, then what do you think? Should he stay in NY, or at least totally wreck his business model to keep Matt all smiley faced?

Lastly, I noticed that your website is a PR5 on the old Google-meter rating scale. PR5 is a Texas size page rank for sure! Congratulations. Your website guys have done you a job of work. Even *their* website has only a PR3…. Splendid work! Excellent!

  • @Patsy: let me put it this way: they were quite motivated to sell!
@Alabama Tea Party: I have excellent sources. Also, when I contacted the Realtor, she would neither confirm nor deny, which usually means I'm right. I, for one, am happy the Becks are moving to Texas and bringing yet more business stimulation to our economic community. But I consider him an entertainer, and his programming entertainment. The public has some unusual appetites for entertainment these days! Thanks for posting I'd love to have you share SecondShelters.com with your readers!

  • I was just introduced to your blog this week and what I have read I find extremely worthy of more reading. I am a follower of Glen Beck and welcome him with open arms to the Dallas area. However my main reason for following you is that you possess a wealth of knowledge on homes all over our great country. As a Professional Organizer in the Dallas area, we often see our clients looking for real meat about their current home, buying a second home or selling one. Your blog will be an excellent resource for them …as I pass it along.

  • Candy reported Glen asked of Gov Perry:
“I’ll move my company to Texas, but I need you to give me zero income tax — do you see what I’m saying?”
If that is all Beck asked for, it should be a done deal……Texas has no income tax.

Come on down Glen. Welcome to Texas.

  • If Glenn is right about any fraction of what he's said, Texas may be the lone star state of the Union, the last standing vestige of what was once the USA. Not a bad pick from my vantage point in the crumbling PRK (Peoples Republic of Kalifornia)
